Scheffleras are evergreen trees or shrubs whose dwarf varieties are popular houseplants. Often called ‘umbrella plants’ because their glossy leaves fan out like parasols perched on sturdy stems. Most of the more than 600 varieties are a bright, solid green, but a few are variegated. They require minimal care, but these large beauties exert a sensational tropical influence on your space.

ORIGIN Taiwan, China, and Australia.

WATER Prone to root rot if overwatered. Water thoroughly, then allow soil to dry out 75-100% before rewatering

LIGHT Bright, indirect

TEMPERATURE 16-30 degrees Celsius

HUMIDITY They love humidity. Mist often, or set on a pebble tray with water

TOXICITY Toxic to humans and animals if consumed

FERTILIZER Feed every month in the spring and summer with an all purpose fertilizer.  Apply to damp soil so you don't burn the roots.
