This plant is big, bold, and beautiful. Smooth, heart-shaped leaves naturally develop holes, and split along lateral veins as they mature, resulting in the nickname ‘swiss cheese plants’. The unusual leaves perch on long, upright stalks, and a mature plant can grow to be over 3 metres tall. Monstera gives an exuberant jungle vibe to your home or office.

  ORIGIN

The jungles of Mexico, Peru, and Southeast Asia

  WATER

Drench thoroughly, then let the top 5 centimeters dry out before rewatering.

  LIGHT

They tolerate low light, but prefer bright, indirect light. An east-facing window is ideal. Rotate weekly for even growth.

  TEMPERATURE

16-30 degrees Celsius

  HUMIDITY

Moderate – spray occasionally with water or put a pebble tray under it to generate a more humid environment. 

  TOXICITY

Mildly toxic to humans and animals if consumed.

  FERTILIZER

Feed every month in the spring and summer with an all purpose fertilizer.  Apply to damp soil so you don't burn the roots.  

  OTHER NICE-TO-KNOWS

Easily propagated from stem cuttings. Leaves are a beautiful addition to floral arrangements.
