Add a festive riot of winter colour to your space. This sublime flowering favourite is not a desert cactus, but a tropical plant from the mountainous regions of Brazil.

It thrives in cooler temperatures, making it a happy companion in North American homes. Showy flowers in vibrant shades of pink, purple, orange and red bloom abundantly for weeks on end.

 how to nurture your nature

Tropical South America.

Water thoroughly in well drained cactus mix. Discard any accumulated water from tray. Allow soil to dry 75-100% between re-wetting.

They enjoy bright light. An east-facing window is ideal.

17-24 degrees celsius. Keep away from heaters and fireplaces.

They do not require extra humidity, a light misting is appreciated when in bloom however.

Non-toxic to humans and animals.

Feed every month in the spring and summer with an all purpose fertilizer.  Apply to damp soil so you don't burn the roots.

Some species bloom at Easter, some bloom at Thanksgiving and some bloom at Christmas.

Most pests and diseases are a result of overwatering. If brown spots appear, simply remove affected leaves.
